English language is widely recognized as international language and it plays an important role to catch up with modern science and technology, achieve goals in the fields of study and grasp global issues. The department of English is one of the academic departments at the University of Technology (Yatanarpon Cyber City), Myanmar. English is being taught as a compulsory subject from all of the undergraduate programs except final year program to master program. In this university, not only almost all kinds of prescribed books are written in English but also English language is extensively used in digital education platform. As the Department of English, also curriculum and syllabus are based on four skills of English and strategies to approach IELTS tests are integrated into teaching and learning process too. In accordance with the teaching methods, student-centered approach is encouraged in the classroom for improving their language abilities and other soft skills such as interpersonal skills, communication, time management, teamwork and so on.
To catch up with other global universities and to be more proficient in English Language by promoting the prior knowledge of the students from the University of Technology (Yatanarpon Cyber City)
· To achieve high quality teaching and learning by promoting the role of English Language in the acquisition of knowledge and research and the development of the concepts in their engineering fields
· To promote the quality of English language of the students to become qualified engineers who have interpersonal skills or social skills
